Affirmations are a catchy (short and concise) sentence or word that you repeat to yourself daily to assist in re-programming your thinking. This is a vital key to change the direction of your internal dialogue and quieten the critical intruder.
After choosing affirmations that are uniquely relevant to you, you need to set an alarm for five minutes, pick one of the affirmations and repeat it to yourself for five minutes, stay focused on the words, pull unconditional self-love into your heart and say the words with emotions. If your mind drifts off gently pull yourself back and continue to repeat the affirmation. Do this three times a day for a week, each week pick a different affirmation. Now I understand that you are all very busy and who has time to say affirmations for 15 minutes a day, it is just a waste of time! It is vitally important to do this section because it re-programmes your internal dialogue and helps to replace the negative words your mind is reciting to. Once you make the decision to say the affirmations you will discover that you can say them while showering, blushing your teeth or sitting on the toilet. Do you sit in traffic every morning then why not make the time useful, and say your affirmations while you are waiting, already that is twice a day without changing anything in your life. Please remember that you are the most important person in your life and if you don’t take time to put yourself first you will never be able to love and care truly for others. The truth is that in the beginning you will not believe the affirmation and feel like you are a fake. So use the rule “fake it till you make it”. Remember this is a form of re-programming and eventually you will begin to believe that you love yourself and truly feel the words you are saying. You mind believes what you continually tell it.
